W A Gibbs (Gibby)
|
Joined the club in 1911. Served in World War 1 as an officer in the Machine Gun Corps. He played in the first match after the cessation of hostilities in 1918. For many years he was Secretary and Treasurer of the Club and he spent many years searching for a ground and a clubhouse. If it had not been for "Gibby's" efforts the Club might well have closed down. He also made many sketches, which were used for programmes and Club functions.
He revitalised the Club after two World Wars and in his time was everything for the club from baggage boy to President and guide mentor and friend to thousands who played rugger in this district.
