SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL DINNER
Thank you to all those who attended the Annual Dinner on 2nd May - for those of you who could not attend, the evening was a huge success. We had 75 places booked but due to a few illnesses on the day the final number was 70.
The evening was extremely rowdy and I'm still baffled as to how the hell I still had a voice left at the end of it!
My thanks go to those who helped make a success of the evening: Malcolm Holt, Nick Hart, Pat Ward-Lee, Jacky Wicks and Su Farrall.
Also huge thanks to Jil, Trevor and the entire bar and kitchen staff for all their hard work.
My initial intention to run sweepstake guesses on the winning number actually changed suddenly, because it was easier, and became ‘write your name on a fiver and chuck it in the pot'. From this, £240 was raised and two winners were picked out for cash prizes. These were Pauline Danes who won 2nd prize of £20 and Peter Thompson (Tommo) who won £40. The remaining £180 went into the 300 Club fund
Now, the whole point of the Annual Dinner is to draw every single membership number during the evening until we reach the final two numbers. Amidst a frenzied and excitable crowd we just about managed to announce that Jacky Wicks - well done Jacky, won SECOND PRIZE, an amazing £400! It was of great to see someone who was actually at the dinner win one of the big prizes.
FIRST PRIZE was a staggering £800, and Carole Walden who unfortunately couldn't attend the evening as she was away in Spain won this. When I called Carole the following day she was delighted with the news and promised she'd celebrate in style that evening.
From the 300 Club membership fees collected during the year, we obviously have to deduct the prize draw monies throughout the year and the cost of the annual dinner. The remaining money is then donated to Brighton Rugby Club and I'm delighted to inform you all that this year we were able to donate £2,000 to Brighton Rugby Club - so well done all of you and thank you!
I shall leave you all in peace now for a few months, so I hope you have a very enjoyable summer and I'll see you next season!
Best wishes

October Newsletter
WELCOME to the 2007/08 Season. I hope you all enjoyed the RWC - I think England can hold their heads high and be proud of what they achieved!
Introduction
The start of this season brought about a change in Membership Secretary for the 300 Club and I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.
Towards the end of the 2005/06 Season I attended a few homes games at Brighton Rugby Club having been introduced to Wendy Hiscock, Jacky Wicks and Roger Lowrie by a mutual friend and consequently attended that year's Valentines Ball where I talked pretty much non stop (yes, the alcohol helped) to Roger about my obsession with rugby union since 1990 and in particular with London Wasps since 1992.
My name is Dawne and I joined Brighton Rugby Club last year as a non-playing member and I must say that I have never been anywhere so friendly and welcoming. In such a short time I've managed to get to know many people at the club and my passion for rugby and now Brighton Rugby Club has been ignited even further.
I'm Brighton/Hove born and bred and for 16 years I have worked in the serviced office industry, having managed The Mallings business centre in Lewes for the last 12 years where we specialise in quality serviced offices at affordable prices, virtual office services for start-up businesses running from home, as well as a range of business and secretarial support.
So you can put my name to a face I've included my photo (above, although I've had loads of hair cut off since then) and I'd really like it if, so I can do the same, you'd come and say hello whenever you see me up at the Clubhouse. There are many of you and I apologise in advance for forgetting anyone's name or face but it'll take me a while to remember you all but I will try!
Everyone Can Help
I'm pleased to announce that in June the 300 Club was able to donate £1793.34 to the rugby club, funding which I know is crucial and will be well spent.
Everyone can help Brighton Rugby Club in some way - if you can interest someone in joining, in any capacity - just get them up here and I'm sure the warm welcome extended to them will make them want to return and become part of the Club. You can call me on 01273 897340 / 07718 522764 or email me at brightonrugby@btconnect.com or dawne300@googlemail.com with their contact details and I'll do my best to get them onboard. Or alternatively, please feel free to give them my details so they can contact me at their convenience.
In closing, I'm sure you'll all want to join me in wishing ALL the players ‘Good Luck' for this season!
